3. Licensing: If using Access to run line of business applications you may find that the application needs to run on more than one machine, in which case extra licenses will need to be purchased. Another reason clients convert to SQL Server is to keep licensing costs down, SQL Server express can be run on multiple machines with no need to purchase additional licenses and is robust enough for the majority of small to medium-sized businesses.
4. Familiarity: By combining SQL Server with Microsoft’s .NET Framework applications can be built with web or Windows interfaces. Many of our clients convert to SQL Server as they prefer to access their database functionality through a familiar interface.
